SOMERSET—“I want the public to know that my father was a great man who loved his family, community, and church,” said Josh Beener. “He certainly made the world a better place.”
In honor of his father, Attorney Jim Beener, Josh is continuing that legacy of making the world a better place. The 1st annual James F. Beener Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 24, at Somerset Country Club.
“If you knew my father in any capacity, you knew golf was his lifelong passion. I am looking forward to a fun day on the links, honoring my father, and benefiting some good local causes,” explained Josh.
The event will benefit causes that Jim was passionate about. Proceeds will go to the Somerset County Library, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and programs that promote Autism awareness. Sponsorship opportunities are still available to support this fundraiser, and donations to the James F. Beener Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation are also being accepted.
“Pam Ickes (Somerset County Community Funds Director) and the Community Foundation have been fantastic to work with,” said Josh. “They are extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and always available. I highly recommend the Community Foundation.”
“The James F. Beener Memorial Fund was founded by Josh to celebrate his dad’s life and legacy and to benefit organizations for which he deeply cared,” said Pamela Tokar-Ickes. “In reality, his son has given this community a way to come together to remember our friend and colleague’s passion and civic dedication in a way that Jim would truly enjoy.”
