JOHNSTOWN — Know a high school senior who wants to start a business?
The Strandquest-Simmons Scholarship Program will award $4,000 to a high school senior from the Johnstown area to encourage start-ups in this region.
Accepted scholarship applicants get to go through business training with Entrepreneurial Alchemy. EA pairs the students with mentors from the local business community who will offer guidance and advice throughout the school year. These students will also participate in monthly Entrepreneurial Alchemy sessions at Pitt-Johnstown, bringing together business leaders from the region to offer ideas, support, and funding.
The scholarship will be awarded at the end of the school year.
Funding for Entrepreneurial Alchemy is facilitated by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, which also manages the Strandquest-Simmons scholarship.
The deadline for applications is September 29. Go here for scholarship information and online application.
