Somerset Trust Company is investing $100,000 in its community, with a matching gift to the Somerset County Community Fund.
“It is our bank’s hope that our donation will have a long-term impact to improve the quality of life for many residents,” says Somerset Trust Company Chairman and CEO Henry Cook.
For every dollar raised by the #SomersetCountyGives campaign, Somerset Trust will match up to $100,000. This major gift sets an exciting tone for the campaign and is designed to encourage early contributions.
“Yet again, Somerset Trust Company steps up and takes a leadership role in making our community better,” says CFA President Mike Kane. “Words can’t express how fortunate we are to have this company here, supporting causes that improve every-day life for our families, friends, and neighbors.”
“As a major business in the area, our future is tied to the well-being of all of who choose to live and work here,” adds Mr. Cook. “We hope our match grant will inspire others to give to this community fund, which ultimately benefits all of us.”
The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies’ Somerset County Community Fund launched the #SomersetCountyGives campaign in January, with the ambitious goal of raising $1 million over the next five years. This funding is endowed specifically for nonprofit activity in Somerset County, so all of the money raised has a local impact.
The campaign, and pledge by Somerset Trust, reflect an engaged and caring community, according to Somerset County Endowments Director Pam Tokar-Ickes. “Somerset Trust’s significant and early commitment to the #SomersetCountyGives campaign truly exemplifies the generous spirit of our county and provides an exciting opportunity to raise matching funds to move us even closer to our one million dollar goal. I have no doubt, this community will meet this challenge.”
Somerset Trust Company is the first corporate sponsor of #SomersetCountyGives, which promises to permanently empower the causes that matter most to local residents.
Mr. Cook explains, “Somerset Trust’s contribution to the Somerset County Community Fund helps to ensure that local organizations can continue to serve our residents now and in the future. These organizations include volunteer fire companies, emergency shelters, cultural programs, and organizations that provide vital services to children, families and the elderly.”
