We are excited to announce a $100,000 grant from our Community Initiatives Fund to Gallery on Gazebo. This funding will support Gallery on Gazebo’s “Access the Arts” project, which aims to bring evening social and cultural activities to the downtown Johnstown area.
“Gallery on Gazebo has been running meaningful and creative programs for a while now but has significantly grown as an organization over the past year,” said Mike Kane, CFA executive director and president. “Their hard work has not gone unnoticed, and we are happy to be able to support their expansion efforts. Not only will this allow for new and varied arts and cultural amenities for our community, but it will coincide with renovations to Central Park and increased programming that will occur there. Their proximity to the park will provide additional opportunities.”
The Community Foundation grant will help fund improvements to the lower-level space of Gallery on Gazebo. Building out the lower level of the Gallery will create a rental space that addresses multiple downtown voids such as, an in-town meeting space with IT capabilities that can accommodate 120 or less people, a space with appropriate flooring for exercise or dances classes, and a space with the proper acoustics for musical rehearsals and performances.
“Beyond serving as a designated rehearsal and performing space, the Gallery plan includes use of the lower level for workforce training opportunities in music, dance and theatre,” said Gallery on Gazebo Director of Development Rosemary Pawlowski.
Through this initiative, the Gallery hopes to encourage businesses, restaurants, and other nonprofits to stay open later, creating more entertainment options and reasons for people to come downtown. For more information about Gallery on Gazebo, visit their website.
