BEDFORD — Each year, hundreds of area students visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, thanks to the Beerman Holocaust Museum Fund at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. The project, launched by the late Abe Beerman in 2005, typically coincides with classroom studies on the Holocaust and provides funding to accommodate travel and other expenses for Bedford, Cambria, and Somerset County school districts to visit the Museum. Following the trip, students submit reflective essays about their experience, which are reviewed and then archived at Beth Shalom Temple in Johnstown.
Recently, students from Everett Area School District had a chance to visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. This video captures their thoughts and reflections from before and after their visit.
