WESTMORELAND — Join us on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 6 p.m. as Green Gables Restaurant presents the inaugural Cuvée Community Wine Dinner, an event to benefit the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County. Steve Pollack, wine buyer for Fine Wine & Good Spirits’ Chairman’s Selection® program, will hand-select wines from around the world for the program. Executive Chef Susan Kroft of Green Gables Restaurant has planned to delight the senses with a five course dinner, perfectly paired with the wines. Participants will be guided through the dinner while Steve shares why each wine was chosen and paired with each dish, and provides some detail and history behind the making of each wine.

“I jumped at the opportunity to bring Steve Pollack to Green Gables. He uses his vast knowledge of wine in promoting wine to the public which melds perfectly into Green Gables’ use of education in its wine program,” says Mary Louise Stoughton, Proprietor and Wine Director of Green Gables Restaurant.

This evening is more than an educational wine dinner; it is an opportunity to showcase the great good that happens in our communities because of the community foundations. Stoughton commented, “We reached out to the community foundations of our area, because we value the work they do throughout the community and we wanted to honor them with this wine dinner event. We resolved to connect to the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies as well as the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County because our customer base resides in the broad area the two foundations serve.”

Kim Kramer of the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County and Mike Kane of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies will co-chair the Cuvée Community Wine Dinner Planning Committee. “It is thrilling to know that the public will learn about the good work the community foundations of our area do. I delight in supporting them with this event,” says Stoughton.

The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County’s mission is to encourage local residents to become philanthropists, to provide grants that support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, and serve as a community leader. Kim Kramer of the CFWC said, “I’m very excited to be a part of an exceptional event that supports local philanthropy while showcasing the beautiful Green Gables. We have a wonderful committee of representatives from both community foundations who are working hard to create a unique experience for attendees. It’s an event not to miss!”

The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies’ mission is to serve the best interests of its donors in perpetuating their philanthropic interest in supporting our community, using the Foundation’s integrity, accountability, and community knowledge. “We are delighted to be a part of this joined effort at bringing special people and organizations together around good causes in a warm and comfortable atmosphere at Green Gables. This event will help support our Community Intervention Mentoring Program and our Fund for the Future Endowment,” said Mike Kane, CFA Executive Director.

The event name “Cuvée Community” jubilantly represents the blending or coming together of these two foundations and the communities they serve.
