We are pleased to announce that a total of $122,260.61 was raised for the Somerset County Community Fund this year as part of a match-fundraising campaign to support future grantmaking within the county.

The announcement was made on Thursday, December 5, at a holiday mixer to thank the donors who supported the fundraiser.

“We wanted to recognize each and every contribution received from the many individuals throughout the county,” said Vickie Beer, co-chair of the CFA Someset County Endowment Committee. “Their donations helped us reach our goal, no matter the size. I certainly believe there is strength in numbers and we’re fortunate to have this widespread support.”

The campaign began in December of 2023 after the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors challenged Somerset County residents and supporters to raise $100,000 in order to receive a match from the Foundation’s unrestricted funds. The challenge was an effort to grow Somerset County’s local endowment fund so that it can continue to provide even more grants for nonprofits in community.

“As I reflect on another amazing year of giving and service in Somerset County, I find myself thinking that it only gets better in this county,” said Somerset County Endowments Director Lladel Lichty. “The Somerset County Endowment Committee has worked very hard to achieve this goal. We are thrilled that our committee was able to raise these funds to help support grantmaking in Somerset County nonprofits for years to come.”

Since inception, the Somerset County Endowment Fund has distributed 308 individual grants to 119 individual grantees, totaling $493,281.50 in grants awarded to nonprofit organizations in Somerset County.
