The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance has opened a fund at CFA to support the trail’s development and sustainability, Thomas Baxter, September 11th National Memorial Trail president said.
The September 11th National Memorial Trail is a 1,300 mile system of trails and roadways that are a symbol of resiliency and character that link the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York, the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It serves as a tribute to the fallen heroes who perished on September 11, 2001, and the many heroes who have committed themselves to the response for their country.
“Completing the September 11th National Memorial Trail is of utmost importance for all the communities in which we work,” Baxter said. “We’re proud to be a partner with Community Foundation for the Alleghenies to make sure this resource is not only developed but also maintained for the public in perpetuity.”
Baxter was the guest speaker for CFA’s Founders’ Day on Aug. 8. At the event, he and board representatives presented $10,000 in seed money for the new fund. Click here for details or to donate to the fund.
Alliance members also have organized an upcoming event, the 911 Trail Challenge. Click here for details or to register.
