JOHNSTOWN — The community came together September 6, 2015, for a little fun in the sun to support and raise money for the Allison N. Vaughn Memorial Fund.
The fund is set up through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies in memory of Allison Vaughn. She was tragically killed on March 31, 2015. Her co-workers started the fund in her memory to raise awareness about domestic violence.
Coal Tubin in Johnstown hosted ‘Tubapalooza,’ a fun event to raise awareness of a serious issue. This inaugural event raised $1,466.25, which will be donated to area domestic violence organizations and agencies in memory of Allison.
Chad and Jill Gontkovic, who own Coal Tubin, said, “We could certainly feel her infectious smile smiling down on us.”
Preparations are underway for Tubapalooza 2016.
“We had a great time and we hope all of you enjoyed the sun, tubin,’ and music on the river,” said Gontkovic. “We want to thank everyone who volunteered and came out to enjoy the event.”
