WINDBER — The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Lift Johnstown and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful have teamed up to fight against illegal dumping sites in the area.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 there will be an informational meeting open to the public. It will take place at the Windber Community Building in the gymnasium located along Graham Avenue.  The program is set to start at 4:30 p.m.

Thanks to a grant through the PA Department of Environmental Protection, the Foundation, Lift and Keep PA Beautiful will work together on a hidden camera program. This surveillance camera loan program will award grantees a surveillance camera kit. It will be placed at undisclosed illegal dumping hot spots throughout Cambria, Somerset and Bedford Counties. The kit includes three concealable, lockable cameras and wireless technology that can capture usable, conviction-worthy footage of license plates and dumpers—even at night—and alert authorities instantly via text messaging.

This informational session will cover everything you need to know about the program, the fight against illegal dumping sites, how to apply for a grant, what you can do to help and what the penalties are if caught, and where the ‘hot spot’ dumping sites are located.
