SOMERSET — SOS Secret Santa in Somerset County, a fund within the Community Foundation, gave out 500 filled Easter Eggs during the month of April. The group performs random acts of kindness each month in Somerset and surrounding communities.
The eggs were filled with lottery tickets, Powerball tickets, Mega Million tickets, and candy. SOS Secret Santa traveled throughout the county over the month handing out the eggs. The volunteer members traveled to police departments, ambulance stations, the hospital, and even doctor offices. It’s the group’s way of saying, “Thank you with a smile for being so ‘egg-stra’ special.”
“This group has grown into a major program of giving to others,” said Carol Stern, Assistant Director, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. “It’s volunteers who donate their time and funds to help those in need.”
SOS Secret Santa is run by volunteers from the area; the group meets the first Tuesday of every month at Kings Family Restaurant.
“New members of all ages are welcome to join our mission of delivering smiles to our neighbors,” said Valerie Woy, Secretary, SOS.
The mix and mingle starts at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.
