An Important Opportunity for Nonprofits
CFA has been working to created the region’s first annual Will Week, a response to a national need to increase awareness of the role of estate planning and to shine a spotlight on the power of planned giving. According to a 2017 survey by Caring.com, fewer than half of Americans have a will or living trust, and many who have created these important documents fail to regularly update them. Our hope is that Will Week makes end-of-life planning a priority for people in our community so that the ways they wish to support their family and charity are properly documented and carried out after their passing.
Will Week 2021 is scheduled for April 26-30. During the month of April, the Foundation will be promoting the importance of estate planning to our community. We’ve engaged more than 35 local attorneys to offer their services at a discounted rate of 15 percent off for new clients who contact them during Will Week to schedule an appointment. We’ll be running ads in local newspapers and magazines and on social media in order to promote this special opportunity.
Sharing information about Will Week with your network is a great opportunity to encourage your donors to consider supporting your organization or CFA fund through their estate. The Community Foundation has created some materials that you can use, including social media posts and images, flyers, and newsletter copy; simply click below to find what you need.
If you would like to talk more about Will Week or how your organization can create a planned giving program, please contact Katrina Perkosky, Donor and Development Services Officer, at (814) 536-7741 or [email protected].
If we’ve learned anything in the last year, it’s that you can’t predict the future, but you can plan for it. We hope you’ll help us share this important message with our community.
