Camp PARC Helping Hand Scholarship Fund The purpose of this scholarship is to provide resources to equip higher education-bound students who have excellent academic achievement and a record of outstanding service to Camp PARC. In the spirit of People Always Responding with Compassion, the scholarship committee seeks well-rounded, kindhearted, and community-minded individuals who are interested in making a difference in our world. Applicants must have served as a Junior Counselor, Peer Buddy, Childcare Counselor, Resident Staff Assistant, or a combination of these positions for a minimum of two years for the full duration of any of the camping sessions at Camp PARC in addition to or including the summer in which they apply for the scholarship. Seth Landis Memorial Scholarship Fund This fund was created in memory of Seth Landis, by his family. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to qualified students pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited four-year college. Experience or interest in agriculture, 4-H Club, or Future Farmers of America preferred, but not required. Three $500 scholarships will be awarded, one each to a Berlin Brothersvalley, a Meyersdale student, and a Somerset student. Apply online by April 20.

Brawley Nursing Scholarship Fund The intent of this fund is to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Bishop McCort High School, Blacklick Valley High School, Central Cambria High School, Conemaugh Township Area High School, Conemaugh Valley High School, Forest Hills High School, Greater Johnstown High School, Richland High School, Westmont Hilltop High School, or Windber Area High School who plans to attend the nursing program at the University of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Mount Aloysius College, Saint Francis University or the Conemaugh School of Nursing. Sergeant First Class Raymond Richard Buchan Memorial Scholarship Fund and Veterans Education Project The intent of this fund is to provide scholarships to Bishop McCort, Conemaugh Valley, Ferndale, Greater Johnstown, Johnstown Christian, Richland, Somerset Area, Westmont Hilltop, and Windber High School seniors who either have made a commitment to serve in the military or have a family member who is serving or has honorably served in the military. This scholarship was created by Richard and Jean Buchan in memory of their son, Sergeant Buchan, a Westmont graduate, who was killed in action in Iraq in July 2007. Apply online by April 21.

Clifford Maust Scholarship Award The intent of this fund is This award is voted on by the Salisbury-Elk Lick School Fund Committee. It is awarded to a graduating senior who has a GPA of 3.2 or higher. The recipient must be accepted into a post-secondary program. Candidates for the scholarship must write a short, one-page, essay describing how they demonstrated leadership and write a short, one-page, essay describing what they have done to improve the community. Joseph (Jack) Walker Award Scholarship Fund
Joseph "Jack" Walker Award Scholarship Fund A scholarship to a graduating senior at Salisbury-Elk Lick High School that has been accepted into a post-secondary education program. The criteria for this scholarship are a GPA of 3.0 or higher, during their 4 years of high school. The recipient must be accepted into a post-secondary program. The candidate needs to have volunteered to do community service and present a one page recommendation letter from a person who supervised their community service. Also, the candidate must provide a recommendation letter from an adult, who is not a relative that will attest to the student’s good moral character, strong positive attitude, and the respect they show for their life and the life of others. Robert Broadwater Literary Award
Robert Broadwater Literary Award Provides an award for a senior at Salisbury-Elk Lick High School that demonstrates an exceptional aptitude for writing or one who has exhibited actual talent and skill at writing or journalism. The ideal candidate would be one who is planning to continue their education in the field of journalism, creative writing, or some other writing major. While continued education in the field is desireable, it should not be held above raw talent as a condition for bestowing the award. Passion and aptitude are the most important qualities. The award shall be open to all forms and genres of writing. Contact your guidance counselor for more information on this scholarship.

Camp PARC Helping Hand Scholarship Fund The purpose of this scholarship is to provide resources to equip higher education-bound students who have excellent academic achievement and a record of outstanding service to Camp PARC. Christopher "Bub" Ream Memorial Scholarship Provides two annual scholarships for Somerset Area High School senior football players and also provides for other areas of community support. Eligible students should intend to pursue a higher level of education (2- or 4-year college degree program or trade school.) One award will be for that football player who best exemplifies the character and kindness of Christopher on and off the field. This includes respect for coaches and teammates, as well as the opposing team players. The second award will be for that football player who, while being a kind and caring person, will be recommended by English/Literature faculty members.
