Securing the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra's Future
The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra formally honored the inaugural members of the orchestra’s 1929 Society at an event in May of 2022. The Community Foundation has worked closely with symphony leaders to establish an endowment at CFA to support the JSO into the future. The foundation also provided a framework for creating a membership model similar to the foundation’s Legacy Society.
At the event to honor founding members, the symphony’s Principal String Quartet played favorites from 1929—the year the orchestra was established—and Maestro James Blachly inducted each member by presenting a commemorative lapel pin. Outreach is ongoing, with a goal of growing the 1929 Society and securing the organization’s viability for future generations.
