Somerset Aero Club Scholarship Fund

To provide scholarship support for Aviation Career education for a Somerset County resident, including, but not exclusive to: Aviation Mechanics, Pilots, Aviation Management, or Aviation Engineering.

Somerset Area Athletic Foundation Fund

To specifically include the soliciting of funds and accepting donations to improve the facilities, obtain equipment, foster the success and endeavors of the athletic programs of the Somerset Area School District for charitable purposes.

Somerset Area Little League Capital Fund

To provide support to make improvements to the Somerset Area Little League Complex to ensure player safety, maximize facility use, and create a reserve fund for future maintenance and capital improvements.

Somerset Area School District Betsy Neilan Sullivan Award Fund

Provides a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior at Somerset Area School District who displays a zest for life, commitment to community, good academics, and an appreciation of knowledge. The winner is chosen by a faculty committee.

Somerset Area School District Class of 1980 Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior student who has achieved not only academic and athletic qualities, but has also demonstrated a high degree of responsibility within school and community.

Somerset Area School District David Sharp Yul Memorial Award Fund

Awards a $500 scholarship to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior female athlete entering post-secondary school. Although there are no requirements, preference will be given to a basketball athlete with financial need as a consideration.

Somerset Area School District Dennis and Gretta Afton Scholarship Fund

Awards a $500 scholarship to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior who is planning to attend Allegany College of Maryland.

Somerset Area School District Educational Travel Fund

To provide support for students who attend Somerset Area School District to have the opportunity to go on educational travel experiences.

Somerset Area School District Eric W. Shaffer Memorial Award Fund

Awards a $500 scholarship annually to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior. Applicant must be entering a post-secondary program and have overcome an adversity or obstacle.

Somerset Area School District Foundation Fund

To provide annual scholarships, as determined by the Somerset Area School District Foundation Committee.

Somerset Area School District George Parke & Helen Craighead Parke Memorial Fund

Awards a $700 scholarship annually to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior whose family has residence or property ownership within the Somerset Area School District. Preference will be given to someone planning to study the arts or business.

Somerset Area School District Jason Korns Memorial Soccer Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior soccer player who has shown the best attitude toward the sport, teammates, and studies.

Somerset Area School District John Harris Memorial History Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior student who has displayed outstanding achievement in American History.

Somerset Area School District Karen Marteeny Memorial Fund

Awards a $100 scholarship annually to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior entering a post-secondary school.

Somerset Area School District Kenneth & Mary Frances Lohr Memorial Scholarship Fund

Awards a $400 scholarship annually to a Somerset Area High School senior entering a post-secondary program leading to a career in a health-related field.

Somerset Area School District Mary Louise McClemens Memorial Award Fund

This award will be granted annually to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior who is a member of the Forensics Team or Student Congress or has in some other manner demonstrated exceptional skill in oral communication, and who plans to enter post-secondary school. Financial need is also a consideration.

Somerset Area School District Richard, Ray, & Rebecca Bender Memorial Scholarship Fund

To award a $400 scholarship annually to a Somerset Area High School graduating senior entering a post-secondary program leading to a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in either the humanities or business.

Somerset Area School District Robert E. Marteeny Landscape Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior student who has displayed outstanding achievement and interest in landscaping.

Somerset Area School District Snyder Library Fund

To support the Snyder Library at Somerset Area High School.

Somerset Area School District Special Projects Fund

To support any endeavor that enhances the Somerset Area School District students, faculty and programs as determined by the Somerset Area School District Foundation Committee.

Somerset Area School District Thelma Lint Weimer Award Fund

To provide an annual award to two senior students who demonstrate outstanding writing ability, one in the writing of poetry and one in the writing of prose.

Somerset Area School District William & Beatrice Griffith Scholarship Fund

This fund provides a $500 scholarship award to a graduating senior at Somerset Area School District who is ranked top in the class.

Somerset Christian School Awards Fund in Memory of Michael Shaffer FBO Physically or Mentally Disadvantaged Children

To benefit students at Somerset Christian School who are physically and/or mentally disadvantaged.

Somerset Conservation District Oven Run Treatment Sites A, D, E, and F Trust Fund

To provide monetary support costs for the ongoing operation, maintenance and reconstruction of Oven Run AMD Passive Treatment systems located in Somerset County.

Somerset County Community Fund

To support Somerset County projects that deal with the arts, education, economic development, children and youth, health and human services, heritage programs, civic affairs, religious and environmental programs. A local advisory committee made of residents from throughout the county will decide what projects will receive funding.

Somerset County Courthouse Clock Fund

To provide support for the repair and maintenance of the historic Somerset County Courthouse Clock.

SoCo Farmers’ Market Fund

To raise funds to support Farmers’ markets throughout Somerset County.

Somerset County Library Endowment Fund

To provide support for the mission, programs and operations of Somerset County Library.

Somerset County Old-Timers Baseball Association Fund

To promote the growth, support, and advancement of all age levels of youth baseball programs in Somerset County by providing financial support as well as continue the legacy of baseball performance and excellence through Somerset County Old-timers Baseball Hall of Fame activities.

Somerset County Parks and Trails Fund

To provide monetary support to the County of Somerset for the ongoing operation, maintenance and construction of the Somerset County portion of the Great Allegheny Passage, the Somerset Lake Nature Park, the Somerset County portion of the September 11th National Memorial Trail, or any other trail projects as designated by the Somerset County Commissioners, all located in Somerset County. This fund may also be used as match towards grants with a similar purpose.

Somerset County Suicide Prevention Task Force Fund

To provide support for all efforts and activities of the Somerset County Suicide Prevention Task Force, which works to prevent suicide and reduce stigma within our community by offering prevention, intervention and postvention support, resources and trainings.

Somerset County Technology Center Building Maintenance Fund

To support building maintenance and upkeep at Somerset County Technology Center.

Somerset County Technology Center Licensed Practical Nursing Scholarship Fund

To provide scholarships for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program.

Somerset High School Class of ’71 Scholarship Fund

The Somerset High School Class of ’71, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its graduation, has established a scholarship fund for the graduates of the class of 2021 and future years. The Class of ’71 is grateful to the District community for the support, attentiveness, and discipline that led us to where we are today! The focus of this scholarship is to reward a graduating senior who has shown excellent character, behavior, maturity, volunteerism, and work ethic. A student who has a sincere appreciation for what the Somerset Area High School experience has meant to them and the impact the experience had on them as an individual. This award is available to any graduate regardless of future college, trade school, or local entrepreneurial pursuits.

Somerset Hometown Heroes Project Fund

To provide fundraising support of all aspects of the Somerset Hometown Heroes Project.

Somerset Lake Nature Park Trail Extension Fund

Somerset Lake Nature Park, located around Somerset Lake, is the first county-owned community park. Know for its incredible birding views, great fishing, and serene atmosphere, many enjoy walking around the newly built trail system. Somerset County’s goal is to build a 5-mile loop trail around the perimeter of Somerset Lake. A land bridge will connect both sides at the north end of the lake.  Will you help to make this trail a reality? With your donation, together we can complete Somerset Lake Nature Park Trail! Somerset Lake Nature Park is built, managed and maintained by the County of Somerset and generous community donors.

Somerset School District Extra-Curricular Achievement Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior student who has displayed outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities, in memory of Eleanor C. DeLong, Thomas Lansberry, David Higgins, and Rankin Jones.

Somerset School District Junior High Achievement Award

To provide an annual award to a junior high student who has displayed outstanding performance in the past school year, in memory of Millie Matthews, Bill Halverson, Mary Dean Manges, and Bernice M. Young.

Somerset School District Scholastic Award Fund

To provide an annual award to the senior student who has displayed outstanding scholastic achievement, in memory of Dr. Charles C. Barchfield, Mary Dean Manges, Leroy J. Manges, Lilia T. Miller, and James R. Butler.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund

To provide scholarship support for the five scholarships, plus any future additional scholarships that the Booster Club approves, with documentation, and provides criteria and funds for.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund: The Founding Fathers Award

Awarded based on an essay describing what wrestling means to the applicant and voted on by the board.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund: The James McCall Award

Awarded to a senior wrestler chosen by the varsity coaches based on merit.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund: The Maslak Award

Awarded to a senior wrestler chosen by the coaches based on merit.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund: The Military Award

Awarded to a wrestler who will be enlisting in a branch of the military.

Somerset Wrestling Boosters Scholarship Fund: The Nathan Codispotti Award

Awarded to the wrestler with the highest overall GPA.

Sophia Tuinstra Memorial Scholarship Fund

To provide an annual scholarship for a graduating senior at Westmont Hilltop High School who is planning on pursuing post-graduate secondary education or a two-year certification program in a medical or health-related field.

Southwest PA Combat Bots Middle School League Fund

To provide support for Indiana Area Junior High students to experience hands-on STEM education competition.

Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Network Fund

To provide support for impactful, sustainable and equitable networked action around integrated water resource management in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Spadafora Family Fund

To support local nonprofit organizations.

Spirit of Johnstown Fund

To build a combination unit truck for donation to City of New Orleans started by GapVax, Inc. and to support general community endeavors.
