Veterans Remembered was conceived to preserve the stories and experiences of patriotic service of one generation to inspire the next. The needs of veterans, once they leave active service, are unique and complex. There are organizations that provide services and programs, but the need is great and funding is always an issue. Instead of just soliciting donations, this website became a way to provide a digital keepsake for donors – a virtual veterans memorial online and a lasting legacy for veterans who served with pride and bravery.
Every veteran’s service should be recognized and honored. To have a veteran featured in our online virtual memorial, there is a one time Pay it Forward contribution of $500, payable to the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, where the funds will be invested and available to support nonprofit programming focused on improving the lives of vets and their families.
The Pay it Forward contributions will be 50% endowed for future use and 50% used to fund current programs of Veteran Community Initiatives and other worthy veteran causes, including educational scholarships.
