What’s Your Idea Worth?

JOHNSTOWN — This May it’s the Makers Premier and PITTch Fest, two events, and a lot of fun. It’s the second year for the celebration of the region’s entrepreneurs and artisans. The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies is proud to support this event with a grant to provide the prize money for the winners.

“The partners working together on this project are creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem in our community,” said Mike Kane, Executive Director of the Community Foundation.
The event will be held at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown inside of the campus Wellness Center.

Makers Premier is a family friendly showcase for entrepreneurs, artisans, educators, engineers, and students who are creating new technologies and businesses; making beautiful, inspiring, useful products; improving local communities; and looking for a place to network, collaborate, share, sell, and compete.

PITTch Fest is a “Shark Tank” style competition for the entrepreneurs and creators who want to turn their big ideas into big business. The qualifying round of PITTch Fest will take place during Makers Premier and the final round will be the closing event for the 25th annual Showcase for Commerce in downtown Johnstown. Winners will take home more than $10,000 in investment capital and startup consulting services.

“We encourage everyone interested–makers and start ups and anyone curious about it all to participate or just to stop in at UPJ to find out what the buzz is. Let’s get working,” said Kane.

The Makers Premier and PITTch Fest are free and open to anyone interested in seeing what the best and brightest are bringing to the regional market and beyond.
